There are so many ways you can help!

ARC’s work is made possible through the generous support and donations we receive.

Our charity is run entirely by volunteers with the help of our volunteer fosterers, so we have minimal overheads. We’re entirely dependent on donations – and all the monies we raise go directly to caring for animals.

Donate food and supplies for our animals

We always need healthy foods for cats like Royal Canin, Hills Science Plan, James Wellbeloved, Burns and Vitakraft.
Our rabbits and guinea pigs need good quality hay such as Oxbow or Western Timothy, and Burgess Excel pellets.
Our hamsters, rats, chinchillas & Degus, need items like paper bedding, safe wood chews, food and treats etc.
No blankets or towels though please – we have enough!

Please also note we are no longer accepting used stamps. There is no easy market for them now and they take more effort than we make.

Help transport animals

We always need help in the local area to pick up sick, injured or homeless pets. Contact us to enquire at

Do homechecks

We’ll give you basic training on how to assess potential new owners. Contact us to enquire at

Did you know that it can cost up to £200 to make sure that an animal is ready for rehoming? And that doesn’t include food costs! Our monthly bills exceed £3,000.

HEALTHCARE FOR THE ANIMALS: the most expensive part of our work

  • Worming and flea treatment
  • Neutering
  • Veterinary care
  • Medication

  • Food, which often has to be a special diet
  • Litter and bedding such as hay for animals

  • Carriers, pens, traps
  • Beds and housing such as hutches, cages and heaters
  • Litter trays and feeding bowls
  • Recreation and environmental elements like scratching posts, runs and toys

Some of our volunteers like to cover some small costs themselves, such as petrol when driving an animal to the vets. However, a small part of your donations will go to operational costs such as phone bills, printing and stamps, fundraising and transport.
