Adopting a Small Furry – The Process
The small furries adoption process is based on which type of animal you choose – hamster, rat, mouse, chinchilla, degu or gerbil, but it follows the steps below. We always make the sure the animal is homed with the right equipment and housing and we can advise on care before you adopt. If you would like more information on gerbils, the Gerbil Care website is full of excellent information to help.
If you’d like further information about any of our small furry rescue animals, please submit an enquiry through the form below – we will reply asap, but please note we are all volunteers and as such, sometimes there will be a delay to our response.
You can view all the small furries that are in need of a new home here on our website.
Once you make contact with us, we’ll arrange a homecheck with you in order to clear you for adoption before meeting/adopting the animal(s).
When you have passed homecheck, we will put you in touch with the fosterer to arrange a suitable time for you to meet your new furry friend(s).
Before collecting the new addition to your family, we require you to complete and sign our adoption form and pay the minimum donation for your new companion(s). Please see minimum donations to the right of this page.
Finally, please don’t forget to come back and leave us a message on our testimonials page once your new pet has settled in!
If you’re not sure which animal you’d like to adopt as you don’t know much about them, our Small Furries Factsheets should help (please note that it is solely for basic guidance to help you understand each animal and their requirements).
