Dear little Jem (male with Felix types facial markings) and Scout (female with black face and white chest and paws) were born outside to a stray. When they were about one month old their rescuers witnessed the mummy cat being chased off by some other cats and after 24 hours she had not returned. This was during a period of very hot weather so their rescuers took the decision to bring the kittens inside to ensure their safety. They cared for them beautifully for a few days until ARC agreed to take the kittens, then travelled across London to bring the kittens to us. The kittens were just about eating solids but Gem gave his fosterer a couple of scares in the first 48 hours when he became hypoglycemic and collapsed. Fortunately, some syringe feeding quickly brought him back to life and both kittens are now eating enthusiastically and independently. They are confident kittens who love to play with one another and go exploring around their foster home. They have been health checked by a vet and have been microchipped and wormed. Before homing they will have treatment flea treatment now that they are a bit bigger. Anyone taking on this delightful pair must be able to afford to get the kittens vaccinated at 9 and 12 weeks, and neutered in September/ October. It was difficult to take pictures of Jem and Scout as they wanted to play! Jem is a typical boy and is not very good at cleaning his face yet after a meal!!!
FOSTER HOME UPDATE: Jem and Scout are growing rapidly! Jem is quite an adventuer and loves to investigate his foster home. He is also unbothered by the 2 large resident Labradors. Scout is quieter and not as advenurous as her brother. She loves to sleep in the bottom of the wardrobe! Jem and Scout love to play fight!
